From the origins of magnesia...

Magnesia can be obtained from magnesium carbonate naturally present in the form of magnesite or magnesium chloride, by precipitation in the form of hydroxide and then calcination.

In Terresis, it comes mainly from carbonaceous rocks:

macrocrystalline rocks that are not very porous, with large crystals and rich in calcium oxide,
cryptocrystalline rocks that are more porous, with crystals that are small in size and rich in silicon dioxide.

Refractories

Magnesia has a very high resistance to extremely high temperatures and thermal shocks. Added to the composition of refractory masses, it preserves their integrity even in hostile environments. Its ability to act as a thermal insulator also helps to maintain heat in furnaces or boilers in the steel industry.

Industrial Minerals

Thanks to its unique properties and functionalities, magnesia allows the industry to design ever more innovative products. More durable concrete, new generation rubbers, insulating materials… But also dietary supplements or solid cosmetics.

Environment

Magnesia helps preserve our natural heritage. It facilitates the treatment of wastewater in compliance with environmental constraints, decontaminates soil contaminated by heavy metals and reduces sulphur emissions in maritime transport.
