The CAPMAG® range: high-performance and patented solutions 

The CAPMAG® technology was developed through 6 years of research and a thesis in Solid State and Materials Chemistry, then patented in 2022. The innovation is based on the physical protection of trace elements by magnesium in order to adapt their solubilization kinetics and thus increase their bioavailability. CAPMAG® is patented for several trace elements essential for the biological functioning and coverage of the nutritional needs of farm animals: Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn.

Problem addressed

As an essential trace mineral, zinc plays a crucial role in many biological processes and is essential for the proper physiological functioning of animals. However, its absorption is relatively low (around 20%) due to the presence of anti-nutritional compounds such as phytic acid (phytate) in the diet. These molecules form insoluble and non-absorbable complexes with free Zn²⁺  ions in the digestive tract, which hinders the absorption of zinc. Zinc cannot be absorbed, so it is excreted in the faeces and can accumulate in the soil, harm microorganisms, plants and contaminate water.

Our solution

CAPMAG® Zn’s effectiveness lies in the protection of zinc by magnesium, which optimizes the solubilization kinetics of the trace element. Thanks to this technology, the release of zinc is gradual and maximum in the last phase of the stomach. This delayed solubilization avoids the formation of complexes between zinc and anti-nutritional factors such as phytates, making it impossible to cover the requirements optimally. Numerous in vitro and in vivo  tests have made it possible to validate the concept.

  • Improved Zinc Absorption with CAPMAG® Zn Compared to ZnO, ZnSO4 and Zn-Glycinate

Trials in weaned piglets  

  • Improved digestibility of Zn, P and dry matter compared to ZnSO4 
  • Better support for digestive health (microbiota, enzymes, fecal scores) compared to ZnSO4 and an innovative source of ZnO 
  • Improved growth performance (average daily gain, feed conversion ratio, feed consumption – up to +2kg body weight at the end of post-weaning) compared to multiple doses of ZnO, ZnSO4, an innovative source of ZnO and Zn-Glycinate  
  • Significant reduction in zinc excretion in faeces compared to ZnO
